We hope we find you safe and healthy in these really difficult times.
In light of everything that is happening, we’re taking the really tough decision to postpone ECBF20 until 9-10th October. We’d like to explain why.
The first reason is that as we’re all having to come together to fight this and as it currently stands, events of our size cannot be supported by relevant authorities and are not allowed to happen. In these strange times we must all band together and look after each other – both as beer fans and as the community of Edinburgh. The essential services of the city are focussed on fighting the virus, and we would never want to make this any harder on them.
Whilst getting lots of people together for a good time is what we’re all about, we know we have to curb that instinct right now for the greater good of people’s health. While the situation is so dynamic, current guidance is that social distancing measures will continue into early summer, and so we have to play our part in it.
The other key reason is our friends the breweries, the food traders, and other producers who are also under a lot of pressure right now. We’re speaking to them all the time, and many are having to make some very tough decisions to ride out this storm. We know July is going to be a bit too early to be putting on events like ECBF and making it as great as we all want it to be.
All that said, we also know that Craft beer is about quality, community, care and attention and these are things that will endure. Of that we have no doubt. Once this virus has been overcome, Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival will be part of its comeback in this great city – a celebration of sociability, community and creativity.
Your support of our event, of the breweries who come, of the indy food producers is so, so important. Without you we’re nothing and so we’re very grateful for your support in building the festival over the years, and in being part of its future.
We’re asking everyone to be part of something really special this October and to keep those tickets for ECBF 20. Your ticket is valid for the same session on the new dates. We’re going to make this the big reunion, emancipation, comeback festival to remember, for all beer lovers across the city and Scotland – and we can’t wait to have a beer with you.
If for whatever reason you want to change the day or session, just email in. Or, if you cannot make the postponed date then your tickets will be valid for up to two years – until 2022. You can also transfer it to the London, Birmingham or Bristol versions of ECBF that we run up until 2022 too.
We appreciate many of you might have questions about changing dates, changing sessions, booking into future years and possible refunds. Please direct those to [email protected] We will endeavour to get back to you as quick as possible. Please bear with us, these are very strange times with circumstances changing by the minute and we’re a small team working around the clock. Once again, thanks for your understanding and ongoing support.
